Satellite technology and space data in Tampere

Matti Anttila, Gofore

Gofore, which is increasingly active in the space sector as well, organised today in Tampere an event titled Satellite Technologies and Space Data, addressing security, resilience and the digital society from various perspectives. The presentations and discussions examined the opportunities offered by satellite technology, space data and positioning solutions in the defence and dual-use markets.

SpacEconomy was involved especially through Heidi Kuusniemi’s presentation. She spoke about reliable positioning and timing technology, which is becoming an ever more central part of secure and resilient societal systems.

Other presentations were given by, among others, Matti Anttila of Gofore, Sami Niemelä of ICEYE and Ville Ilvonen of Gofore, as well as from the public sector Mika Kulkas (Business Tampere), Antti Korpi (Ministry of Defence) and Tapio Tourula (National Emergency Supply Agency).

The best part of these events, however, is usually meeting people: familiar and new contacts, open discussions and a shared desire to build solutions for the future. Finland has strong expertise in space, positioning and security technologies, and through collaboration its potential can be utilised best.
