What is Space Economy?

The space economy creates value through space technology and its utilisation, supporting communication, navigation, environmental monitoring, disaster response, and resource management. These technologies drive economic growth and enable smarter cities, precision agriculture, climate monitoring, and global connectivity.
What SpacEconomy does?

We develop new business models for the space economy and flexible governance frameworks.; strengthen resilience; promote preparedness for future threats; increase awareness of the space sector among the general public and decision-makers; and design new education pathways in the space sector encouraging entrepreneurship.
Finland is a spacefaring nation

Since launching Finland's first satellite in 2017, the country has emerged quickly as a key player in the new-era space industry. Strong academic foundations and agile public funding spurred initial growth, followed by significant private investment.
Giving the second push

Meanwhile, the public and academic sectors struggle to scale, hindering decision-making and support for the evolving space economy. The SpacEconomy collaboration unites universities and research institutes that propelled Finland into the space age – and now we ignite our engine again.
