SpacEconomy in Japan
SpacEconomy project members, prof. Arto Ojala (University of Vaasa) and prof. William W. Baber (Kyoto University) organized a Space Business workshop for MBA students at the Graduate School of Management, Kyoto University, on 18 October.
The workshop included short overviews of space ecosystems, business models, and value chains. Thereafter, students worked in groups to analyze how a selected space firm is connected to different space ecosystems and subsystems. The students’ findings will serve as a basis for forthcoming publications on the topic.
Their recent article “New Space Business” was also recently published in the Oxford Research Encyclopedia of Business and Management as an invited contribution. In the article, Ojala and Baber outline key concepts of the New Space industry, propose research questions and topics for future study, and discuss relevant theoretical lenses to explain this emerging phenomenon.
