Interested in satellitenavigation and a novel deployable antenna concept? Join us at NAVISP final seminar
The European Space Agency’s (ESA) NAVISP program (Navigation Innovation and Support Programme) supports innovative solutions for the development of satellite navigation and positioning technologies.
The program focuses on researching new concepts, technologies, and systems that enhance navigation and support future space missions.
NAVISP provides European stakeholders with opportunities to develop cutting-edge technology, strengthening Europe’s position in the global space navigation field. One of the program’s projects is NAVISP EL1-083 - Deployable Satellite Navigation Antenna, with significant Finnish involvement. The project’s final seminar will be held on Wednesday, 19 November, from 11:00 to 12:30, and all interested parties can follow it remotely.
The project aimed to develop an innovative antenna solution that can be compactly packed and reliably deployed in space. The solution is designed specifically for small satellites, such as CubeSats, and improves the performance of satellite navigation systems in challenging conditions.
The seminar will present:
- Key project results and lessons learned
- Technical design and implementation
- Testing phases and validation methods
- The solution’s significance for future satellite navigation
The project was carried out by a Finnish-led consortium, including:
- Huld Oy (part of Gofore Group) - coordination, mechanical design, and structural solutions
- Radientum Oy - antenna technology development and RF design
- Finnish Meteorological Institute (FMI) - mission design and space environment expertise
The event offers valuable insights into the new technologies being developed in Europe to support satellite navigation and their potential impact on future space operations. This is also highly relevant from the perspective of the SpacEconomy project.
