Another two Finnish satellites launched
The Finnish satellite company ICEYE has once again launched two new radar satellites into space. The launch took place aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from the Vandenberg Space Force Base in California. The mission, called Twilight, carried a total of 40 small and medium-sized satellites into orbit.
Of the two ICEYE satellites, one is for the company’s own use, while the other is the second satellite acquired for the Finnish Defence Forces. According to ICEYE, contact has been established with both satellites, and their commissioning into operational service is progressing as planned.
ICEYE has now launched a total of 64 satellites into space.
The other satellites are also interesting, especially German Dcubed-1 / Araqys-D1 satellite that tests 3D printing in space. Their goal is to procure a boom – this may be useful in future as the customized booms could be manufactured in space.
