This is Foresail-2, the next Aalto satellite
While Aalto University's latest Foresail-1p prepares for its space journey, set to begin on November 10 aboard SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket, the planning for the next satellite is already well underway.Foresail-2 is twice as large, a so-called six-unit CubeSat (6U), and it has larger solar panels.
Foresail-2 is a satellite mission designed to study Earth's radiation belts and space weather. It will measure high-energy particles and plasma to help us understand how space weather impacts technologies like satellites, communication, and navigation systems.
The mockup is used to check integration procedures and overall fit of the spacecraft. This includes not only assembly but also cable routing. It also features new Aalto-developed double fold 6U solar panels.
